That is a good thought and a very important part of the battle. There were many other things that could of happened. Probably the best General in the Union was killed early - John Reynolds. What if he had lived and led? What if Lee had followed what Longstreet thought was the battle plan - defensive and let the Union attack them? What if the Union's John Sedgwick had not been fooled by Lee when he left A.P. Hill's men behind to mask his movements? Like most battles it has many ifs.

The south would have won if they had support from J.E.B.Stuarts calvery in Gettysburg. Gettysburg was the turning point of the war for the North. The North had lost almost all or did lose all the battles before then.

In general, Southern men were more outdoor oriented, though the North did have lots of farm boys in some areas. Most Southerners were good marksmen from childhood. They'd been raised hunting, fishing, etc.

Exactly! The Union had the advantage in pretty much every aspect of the war, yet the North lost so many more men
