It's gothic metal with death metal grunts and doom imbued tempo, imo. The Thematology is gothic as well.Definitely not death metal perse. Just the grunts.The style of the vocals is also referred to as Beauty and the beast(fem operatic vocals combined with male death grunts, to make a form of dialogue) as you correctly stated.
