"Fearlessness may be a gift but perhaps more precious is the courage acquired through endeavour, courage that comes from cultivating the habit of refusing to let fear dictate one's actions, courage that could be described as 'grace under pressure' - grace which is renewed repeatedly in the face of harsh, unremitting pressure." (Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, 07.10.1990)

She is one of the most amazing people alive today. One day she will be successful in freeing Burma of the Junta, and will be the Mahatma Gandhi of the 21st century..

Did you hear about the news?Daw Aung San Suu Kyi has been taken away from her home where she is currently under house arrest to face trial after the junta accused her of "violating" the terms of her detention after a man swam from the lake to her home and stayed there for a few days. What I heard is that if she is "found guilty", Daw Suu could be sentenced to three-years' imprisonment. The generals took this as a chance to extend her incarceration which is due to end this May.
