A great song by Terry Jacks | Feel free to comment!http://... to youMy trusted friendWe've known each other since we were nine or teTogether we've climbed hills and treesLearned of love and A-B-C'sSkinned our hearts and skinned our knees.GoodbyeMy friendIt's hard to dieWhen all the birds are singing in the sky;Now that the spring is in the airPretty girls are ev'rywhereThink of me and I'll be there. We had joyWe had funWe had seasons in the sun;But the hills that we climbedWere just seasons out of time.GoodbyePapaPlease pray for meI was the black sheep of the family; You tried to teach me right from wrongToo much wine and too much songWonder how I got along.GoodbyePapaIt's hard to dieWhen all the birds are singing in the sky;Now that the spring is in the airLittle children ev'rywhereWhen you'll see themI'll be there. We had joyWe had funWe had seasons in the sun;But the wine and the songLike the seasons have all gone.GoodbyeMichelleMy little oneYou gave me love and helped me find the sun;And ev'ry time that I was downYou would always come aroundAnd get my feet back on the ground.GoodbyeMichelleIt's hard to dieWhen all the birds are singing in the sky;Now that the spring is in the airWith the flowers ev'rywhere;I wish that we could both be there. We had livesWe had funWe had seasons in the sun;But the stars we could reachWere just star-fish on the beach

This one takes me back to 1974. My parents had albums in the basement and there I found that Rod McKuen had written this as a poem/song, then Jacks hit big with it. I'm sure McKuen was all "Thanks for the fat royalty checks, Terry. My records aren't selling so well."
