Series creater Matthew Weiner has said that he is paying homage to a scene in a Alfred Hitchcock movieP.S. it is isn't unusual for creators and producers of television series to pay homage to the great Alfred Hitchcock. Bryan fuller, who created Heroes and Pushing Daisies, has Alfred Hitchcock references in almost every episode
