There was a conspiracy to cover up the fact that they changed the names after the first series

It's amazing that all this "innuendo" is still making the rounds. The creator successfully sued the newspaper that started all this nonsense. I think that's evidence enough, don't you?
Gumblejack(April 14, 2009 at 10:15 am)
No. That's just a dumb urban legend.

is there a connection here. as in one eyed monster and "lower yourself onto the monsters head" and sea biscuits could mean shit
kabogga(December 26, 2008 at 2:12 am)
Not only did they have a character called Master Bates, but also one called Seaman Staines. Now how they got those names through BBC moderators and into the show I'll never know. But ain't you glad they did! Lol! ;-)

I heard "Master Bate". I live in Australia and I can tell the differemce between a "B" and a "M".

id fucking wet myself if i saw a monster like that eating my ship and if i had to lower the biscuits above the monster id be like ''fuck no you do it''

That's just an urban myth - there were no characters with those names. The cabin boy was called Tom for example, not Roger, and it was Master Mates. Check out Wikipedia for more on the urban myth.
