Ms. Nixon is incorrect. In California, civil unions provide the SAME rights as a married couple gets.... except its not called marriage... the agenda is to re-define marriage..... no other reason....

Why overlook that there has never been a national legislative precedent extending or abridging marriage rights to gay couples. in state after state rejecting gay marriage ballot measures. To keep insisting that gay people deserve or are entitled to a a right to 'marriage equality' is arbitrary&unreasonable!

saying that it is baseless and unreasonable to insist on some contrived, narrow, highly regulated so-called separation of church/state mandate in matters of public policy . Just because people hold a body of ethics derived mainly from religious teaching is no basis whatsoever for attempts to marginalize or disparage their right to actively participate in and attempt to influence public policy decisions

sorry, I could not disagree with you more on that point- organized ethical, moral&social outlooks (i.e., religious perspective) have always exercised an influential role in the shaping of public policy throughout the nation's history. what authority requires religious bodies to abnegate that responsibility now merely for the sake of indulging your arbitrary perspective on the right of the majority to define and proscribe the terms of legal marriage ?
