"get down to business..." and baby did he ever get down to biz. It's really just an overpowering performance. With unbelievable soul...that's the main thing like many have already posted, he played from the heart and it was just like turning on a channel and it flowed out of him. People that are truly gifted and brilliant like him it seems are only here for a short time...given to us to enjoy and then they're gone. Dylan is a great writer but its Jimi's version all the way. Sorry Bob...

Actually, Hendrix played in different bands in the early 60's as well. He played with Little Richard for a while.

I know what you mean man, I mean Clapton was rocking all the way till the 80s.Hendrix is considered by MANY, thats including other Rock Legends themselves, to be the GREATEST GUITARIST/MOST IMPORTANT GUITARIST IN ROCK HISTORY.And Hendrix was only around from 66-70...it took him just 4 years to seal himself as a GOD.

Brothers in soul...hahaDamn it...if only he lived to see the 70's...what would he be. What we'd see. This is just the fucking beginning. So many people consider Electric Ladyland the finishing act of his career....the thing is, if he lived, it would be but the beginning...I mean, see how far clapton went. Hendrix would probably have expanded as well.If only he lived. Hopefully, he will be reborn from "spirit land" so he can finish what he began.

Jimi making it look easy. Years ago I transcribed most of this. this wasn't an easy song to learn. To this day, I still maintain that this song was all improvised. Jimi played it while Mitch and Noel just followed what Jimi did.

Yup, what you said is the best way to put it. I seriously doubt Jimi, Noel and Mitch were trying to 'up' what Dylan did. he was a huge Dylan fan and wanted to pay tribute. Jimi was a huge fan of other people's music and covered quite a number of songs.
