Watch this elephant paint a beautiful image of an elephant holding a flower. You'll be amazed at how her talent unfolds as she carefully completes each stroke. Her mahout talks to her throughout the process as his gentle touch gives her confidence. She focuses on her work and seems to enjoy the approval of the audience and, of course, the sugar cane and banana treats. All of her training has been reward based. So touched by their horrific backgrounds and loving personalities, ExoticWorldGifts.com now supports, "Starving Elephant Artisans" by selling their paintings so they can continue to have a new life in Thailand. Own a print of the art for $35.Some Thai elephant experts believe that the survival of the Asian elephant species will most likely depend on the good treatment of the elephants in well managed privately owned elephant camps. All of us would prefer that all of the elephants be free to be in the wild. For many reasons, that is not possible at this time. You can learn more and purchase these unique paintings at www.ExoticWorldGifts.com

Yes, anyone who has lived in the same house with other animals has an inkling of their amazing and alien intelligence. My dog tries to talk. Doesn't have the physical structure to do it, but she sure tries. I try to understand her language -- body, tail, sounds. Sometimes we communicate.

an amazing contradiction to anyone who would claim that the creative impulse is the sole domain of humanity. Beautiful.

exactly. I helped raise a kitten and and playedwith her; she was so clever cute and spoiled andwonderful. But her mind was so different fromours; I don't have space here to explain andsome of it cannot be written down.

Reading the comments I'm amazed at how human centric some people are. We have no way of knowing what is going on in an elephant's brain. They are very smart. They probably have some kinds of intelligence that we no clue about -- and we have areas of intelligence that are different from theirs. Doesn't make us better or worse than they are -- just different.

It is of course not a scientific statement justa guess I could be wrong. If you look atkids drawin u see little grasp of perspective, this elephant draws perspective withmechanical ease, Elephants greet face toface, if I were an elephant I would drawa much bigger head and trunk... this painting looks to much like our abstract perspective, It is simply to precise tooabstract and too human...of coursewe all know they are very smart, I thinkthey probably can paint their own uniqueway.

We too would prefer that the elephants be free in the wild. Because of shrinking habitat, lack of protection, high cost of care, and the four to five years needed to have a baby, the Asian elephant is endangered. The sale of the art from this elephant camp helps to take care of 65 elephants. Read more on our website FAQ. Thanks - ExoticWorldGifts

@vahidre...:Elephants mourn their dead, they have the capacity for emotional thought. Why do you assume it 'unlikely' that it knows what it's doing. Where do you presume that from?
