I feel they were playing different jokers anyways. Heath got the more recent joker which has been appearing in the comics for the last couple decades (my favourite) while Nicholson got the classic joker.

robert downey jr should have won best supporting actor for tropic thunder................... come on, how often does a comedy get ANY nominations. they are the most over-looked movies.

heath did do a great job with the joker, but does he deserve an OSCAR for it? hear me out, i mean, he's dead. so why should a dead man get an oscar, when the runner ups (who, may i say, are alive) could have a better chance?

Nobody with a functioning brain would call jack bad, he is brilliant in his own style. I said he played himself in makeup as Joker, I never said he was a bad actor, he is a great(although limited) actor.

Agreed that Ledger emerged himself in The Joker as few other actors could have but is there any need to slag one actor while you defend another?I doubt anyone would dare deny that Ledger was infinitely better in the role but I'm sure there are just as few who could call Nicholson a bad actor.Jack Nicholson says himself that he doesn't play characters, he simply molds different aspects of his own personality into different roles, isn't that still more than you or I do? He deserves some respect.

Why not ? Day Lewis and Penn both won Oscars for doing the same thing Ledger did- changing his voice, laugh, mannerisms, facial expressions. He gave the best performance of the year so he did deserve the Oscar, people who know far more about acting than us thought he deserved it.
