This is one of many slideshows / videos I have made supporting the U.S. Military. I am enlisted in the Marine Corps and go to MCRD San Diego on July 13. Please show your support by watching my videos and feel fry to stop by my channel or toss me a subscriber, I promise I don't bite!My videos and time spent on them are dedicated to Jason L. Dunham. Although I never knew or met the young Marine, his actions uphold and show what the Marine Corps tradition truly is about. Born November 10, 1981 (The Marine Corps birthday) he jumped on an enemy grenade, covering it with his helmet and saving the lives of two other Marines in exchange for his own. He died eight days later on April 22, 2004 at the age of 22. He later received the highest medal of the United States Military, the Medal of Honor. Cpl. Dunham's act of heroism will never be forgotten. I dont think they are gonna change it anytime soon but yea they have had a few I found this - There were three mottos prior to Semper Fidelis including Fortitude meaning with courage antedating the War of 1812 Per Mare Per Terram by sea by land presumably inherited from the British Royal Marines whose motto it already was and up until 1843 there was also the motto To the Shores of Tripoli Semper fidelis signifies the dedication and loyalty that individual Marines have for Corps and Country

Its not just the Marine Corps that use that motto or have used that motto. Example 11th Infantry Regiment of the United States Army. Uses that motto.

I like their song The Islander. Yea the motto or different versions of it date back to something like the 14th century.
