Had that problem first few years of TBI. It was cause by nuorotin for nerve damage&complete numb below my breast bone, or/&a combo of the meds given me, I went off of them&it stopped, but I didn't understand that I had TBI for another 8 months or so after that, even though I was told, I didn't understand. you don't know what you can't remember, healing started the most when I learned from another TBI that acted just like me, what was wrong&the Vail dropped,&I learned to laugh at myself

I took damag too 6 years ago. I got beaten up. when I was unconscious they kicked my head, the witnesses said afterwards. The fractures just stopped very close to the frontal lobe. Since then I get depressive all the time. My personality changed a lot and I lost my ability to concentrate and lost certain intellectual abilities (e.g. I became bad at mathematics)

Hi Sunflower - THANKS and YEP! I'm not a medical expert, don't claim to know the science, but I know the experience. We not only can heal more than doctors used to tell us, we can develop new strengths if we dare to imagine it is possible, don't let others stop us. Check out on YouTube, "Brain Injury Dialogues", Clip 3, Brain Injury Pride - best to you, Anita

I am sure you have heard that the brain cells grow new pathways. I actually felt my dendrites connect after 1.5 years when I had my first experience of reverence and ability for abstract thought about God. Then, in 3 years, I was able to access memories long lost. These events were like a flash of new brain activity not experienced in previous years since the head injury. I knew in those instances that dentrites growing during the down time had made their new connections...'touched'.

I am not remembering the source (TBI) yet I do know that I have heard in the circle of thought i.e Deepak Chopra, Carolyn Mysse, etc, that they have detected new brain cell growth.Once a brain cell dies, it's dead, obviously. New brain cells can and do grow. Outside of this new known fact (possibility unless I find my source again), live cells do grow dendrites (remember "bushy dendrites" of the 90's and smart drinks with ginko biloba?).

This is so helpful for educating those who love us, employ us, etc to understand how to assist and accept our disability. My Dr. Long, had told me that all of us TBI's need a huge BAND AID affixed to our head so that others will know what it is that we live with.LOLWishing Love, Light, and Laughter (the best medicine) to ALL.abraca-Dabra

Anita,Just to share with you this: I drew a line between myself who doctors told me that I needed meds and my HUMAN self who needed peaceful surroundings and people who assisted me in getting more involved with life. I found peace and those people. I am not taking any meds and don;t expect to. This HOW I am getting better. Thanks for responding and listening

:-D ! Yes, it helps to have a good BS detector! And persistence in saying no, no, no to things that don't seem right. BTW, I did not have a "team" either. I was not treated by the UW folks shown in this film (they just made the film look that way without asking me). Lucky for me, the two good therapists I ran into, who were also very effective gatekeepers in healthcare system, were able to outweight the legion of clueless. Thanks for being here!

I am so glad that these people had team of doctors who were right to give these people help. With me, I had a team of clueless professionals. I STILL feel as if I should charge them for my time with them. But thats the past. Today, I am highly successful at what I do and I thank God for my progress.
