Not income tax. Do your research. It's all a scam. "Jeckyll Island" look it up.

Nor does the 16th amendment so demed by the supreme court and he exact definition of income tax. It's not a tax. It's slavery.

Yeah, get with the programme. Fairness is getting to keep money other people earned, not getting to keep your own earnings.
gumpydoood(June 8, 2009 at 9:40 am)
Well, you're right as far as the 16th amendment. But "cherry picked"? hardly. I can give you many more of such quotes.Furthemore, it is ironic that the teabaggers should pick Thomas paine as a spokesman, the most "socialist" (fair) of them all.I would suggest, for your introduction to US History, a reading of Thomas Paines, "Agrarian Justice". But also read some of the many letters between Jefferson and Madison. If there is anyone that "cherry picks", it's the wingnuts.
Profairpotm(June 8, 2009 at 8:44 am)
yet in the constitution prior to the 16th amendment we did not allow for the direct taxation of citizens. Fair would be to rise and fall on the basis of your own merits. Your quote is cherry picked; the founders we not anything close to socialists.
gumpydoood(June 6, 2009 at 9:08 am)
Even Liberty comes with a price tag. Taxes are what pays for your liberty as well as the "socialist" roads, sidewalks, libraries, defence department, etc.

". . .the farmer will see his government supported, his children educated, and the face of his country made a paradise by the contributions of the rich alone, without his being called on to spend a cent from his earnings." --Thomas Jefferson to Thaddeus Kosciusko, 1811.Farmers were generally poor. in those days What Jefferson was speaking of is called FAIR, with the wealthy paying their fair share. The tope 400 earners payed just 17%. That should make even a wingnut pissed.
PeteTheBossRoss(June 5, 2009 at 7:45 pm)
gumpydoood: "FAIR"? Apparently you dont know what socialism is.Though we probably have different interpretations on fair. I think people being able to freely engage in efforts to better their life is fair.I think people being able to reap the benefits of their labor is fair.I think that property being as important to freedom as free speech is fair. I think the notion of unalienable rights is fair. Apparently you think everyone being enslaved to one another is fair. What is more fair than liberty

"extremism, in the defense of liberty, is no vice" ... WOW!Anyone saying that today would probably be put on the no fly list."A truly sovereign nation is a nation made up of truly sovereign individuals".- Kevin Plank-
