Not enought time or yen... isn't that the truth!!!

Unfortunately, I haven't received a reply. I may end up calling the place.

Thank you. I think I am having too much fun with my camera. I really enjoyed the video you made of you and your mother traveling. There are so many cool places to see in Japan, but not enough time or yen.

Beautiful pics. Makes me want to visit Kyushu again. Five stars.

Thanks! (And I suspect your Japanese is much better than you're willing to let on!)
kkajapan(September 25, 2007 at 10:02 pm)
This morning I emailed the place directly. Hopefully they will respond to my email. My Japanese is really bad and my letter/email writing books are all at my office. If they answer I will post it this evening.

See if you can confirm this. I'll see if I can come up with the answer as well.

My wife (girlfriend then) and I hopped on an overnight ferry from Tokyo with a car and went from Hostel to Hostel back when I was still in college. I loved the freedom of having the car vs. being tethered to the train. Do you have your drivers license there? If you do, I highly recommend the "driving tour" with someone. You can get off the beaten track that way. We did the same in Hokkaido with a rental car.

That sounds awesome! I went to Miyazaki about 13 years ago, haven't been to Kyushu since then, maybe its time to return.

Great advice. I once spent a week driving around Kyushu, enjoying the scenery and learning about the early Christians there. Shimabara, the Amakusa Islands, and the beaches at Miyazaki were absolutely beautiful - perhaps my favorite areas of Japan...
