Randy Newman at the New Orleans Jazz Festival 2008performing Louisiana 1927, a song he wrote about a terrible flood in that year...it also became indentified with Hurricane Katrina and the destruction it brought on the region.
I was at this performance, front row. The crowd sang lustily along with many songs, but on this one it seemed no one could rise above a choked whisper. The whole show was very emotional, but this was the peak. Oh, and that monologue before the song was pure and welcome truth. Thank you, Randy, even though you caused me to weep for my city again. I thought I had run out of tears, you bastard. Thank you.

Thanks for posting this. I have never seen Randy this emotional whilst singing Louisiana 1927.
