In ancient greece, there were only 5 original Olympic events; the foot race was one of them.I was so infuriated with the useless running advice videos on this site that were often unhelpful, vague, and brief, that I decided to make my own.I filmed it in one take, but it was 14 min long, so I had to trim it to 10 min (reason for having so many cuts)*The person I refer to in this video is channel "Expertvillage." I make a few comments about the quality of their running tip video.
If you are just starting to train and don't have much running experience, I would say just try hard at practice and don't quit on yourself. Make sure, even if you're not the fastest runner, that you finish your runs. If you keep pushing yourself, eventually you could become something great. If you see a teammate walking near you, encourage them to keep going, but don't stop and let them suck you down to their level. Strive for greatness! Cross country runners are super humans.

Well if you are just starting to run, then I would say go into the season with no expectations. Just train hard and see how well you do with no pressure. After your first year, you can plan out where you can improve from there. Looking into the future when you're older, I would say running about 21 minutes is varsity material. Going under 20 is good enough to get at least top 2 or 3 on the team. If you run mid 19's, that would probably make State. Just my opinion of course.

Even though I watched most of the videos from that professional guy with the slick hair and all crapping about cross country, but I found your video even more inspiring and damn well more worth my time then the other ones ever will....Amazing job man....I'm going to watch your speed training video next. =D!!!

I wasn't ripping on a fellow runner. I was criticizing someone on youtube that was giving running advice. If you watch the video, you will realize that they seem to lack any knowledge of the sport and anything they say seems rather obvious. I made this video to help people that wanted to stay motivated and were seeking actual tips.

Thanks for the tips, I'm new to the sport, I think they'll come in handy.I found it strange how you talk about your dislike of others bashing and disrespecting runners, yet you rip into another fellow runner in the beginning of your video. Seems kinda inconsistent. Can't we all just be friends? ;)

Great video. Especially with the passing. If someone's dead tired and some guy sprints by them it mentally breaks them.
