Exactly, your fingers are plenty of truth, my family is a 3rd generation Spanish-Italian speaking, and at home, we only speak Spanish since the Great Grand Fathers till our generation, and our kids AT HOME, they speak Spanish, but they also speak Italian and ENGLISH !!!!

Well, my mix is a Heinz 57, Sephardi-Spaniard-Mayan-Cuban and maybe something that I haven't being informed, and is not arrogance Loopieyak, is just that not all Latin people are landscaping or janitorial skilled, I can speak 5 languages and I have two college degrees, 1 master's by the way, that is not arrogance, is simply called EDUCATION!my respects to all of you!!!

OK Guys let us calm down!I speak English so correctly!I was born here 8th generation Irish/austrian/welsh~and the family had a little Hiatus with an American Indian for two generations! BIG DEAL!!!!Who Am I?I understand what she is saying we are the only country patronizing the langueges!We should realize~and give help to those who are trying to be Americans like our forfathers!We all came from somewhere!I am Austrian,Irish, welsh, and mixed w/cherokee! who are you?

"Coming by choice" is an interesting way to say it. I think people more often come because they need to, not because they want to.It sounds like ultimately the issue is not whether or not people speak English, but that people (no matter their origin) are competing for jobs because people need money to survive. Should we not take this up then with the people who are hoarding all the money and living in excess rather than the people who are struggling as much as we, if not more, to survive?

mageealli-when a natural born citizen of this country has 2 learn another lang other than English n order 2 get a job n this country it matters what comes out of his/her mouth. Why is it ok for our citizens 2 have 2 learn another lang 2 survive but not expected of those coming 2 this country by choice? A unified lang. unites a country. Communication is key 2 the success of any business, country, operation or household. Respect our citizens, learn our lang. Over 92% of our citizens speak English.
