September 2007Every year, 35 million tonnes of electronic waste is exported to China to be scrapped. There the rubbish is broken down by hand, poisoning workers and polluting the environment. "Smoke from the computers is too strong to breathe", complains one disposal worker. "I feel dizzy and can't see any more". Many employees at the electronic disposal plant suffer from respiratory illness or skin diseases. They work for ten hours a day, with no protection from the hazardous chemicals.
If China wants to be the "World's Factory" for manufacturing goods; then they should also learn to deal with all the products they make when it's returned for disposal.

I am good friends with some people that are from China and friends that are from Mexico. After working with these people you get a whole new look on life. We are so spoiled in the USA. My wife thinks I dont worry enough about the bills but Im just glad we are alive and in good health living in the best Country in the World. Obama should take some of these jerks from Wallstreet and put them in one of these factories for a months.

Yeah China is full of smog and smoke and they got mad at olympic athlethes for wearing masks when they go to China. Well shit maybe they should clean it up so they don't hurt their lungs before they compete

the acutal pollution in China is just waaay worse than what you see from the media reporting in the west! the smoke or smog in china is just choking u to death. seeing a blue sky in the west is common but where in china is a dream of prize; the river and streams in china are all so "colorful" with sthinky smells; the rural area of china is like garbage center, garbage are dumped everywhere by chinese villages. china has one of poorest and dirties rural place u ever see!
