A reply video regarding excess skin left over following weight loss surgery. There are pics at the end of the video of my excess skin -- if you don't want to see it, then DON'T WATCH this video! You've been warned.
She didn't have as much weight to lose, so not as much loose skin so far. A lot of how much loose skin you have left is related to genetics, your skin type, how long it has been stretched, etc. If you have a lot of stretch marks, chances are you will have a lot of loose skin left because once damaged, it doesn't repair itself to it's original state. Best wishes to you!

Hi Dena ! Thankyou for posting this video. It really helps people to realize know what's more after successfully losing weight. You mentioned your sister got the band, and steadily lose pounds. I am also early on my banding journey, I am just wondering if you can share whether she also has the same problem dealing with loose skin... Since the pounds are losing a bit more gradually than bypass...

You're welcome. I knew going into surgery that I'd have a lot of "leftovers". Until I can get them taken away, I'll just keep covering them in clothes. lolDena

Best advice is just following the rules your surgeon&nutritionist give you. I owe my success to their guidelines and my commitment to their advice. Best wishes to you on your journey!Dena

I just found your blog and think I have been thru most of the posts. I am considering surgery and want to know what advice you could give to me looking back.

Thank you for the courage and honesty to make this video! Personally, I'd rather have extra skin than the fat anyday, so I'm with you on making the best of what you've got. :)

Thanks, Jenn. I get so much from patients and from fellow WLS patients that I just wanted to give back a little and let others know that they're not fighting this "excess skin" fight alone.Dena

Yep, and I'm getting used to it. May as well. It's part of me! And a memory of where I came from, too.Dena
