I totally agree with Supaduck0.90's - Smashing Pumpkins80's - The Cure70's - David Bowie60's - maybe The Doors (most people would go with The Beatles)

The Cure were at their peak in the 70's.

smashing pumpkins were the band of the 90s, and they were heavily influenced by The Cure (band of the 80s, along with the Smiths)

Every generation probably says "Man, music today sucks! The bands have no talent and can't write a song worth listenting to. The ___ (60's, 70's, 80's, '90's, 00's, 10's, etc) was the best".Well, in my case I have to say that the 80's flippin' ruled! Now I'm not dissin' the Goo Goo Dolls, Stone Temple Pilots, Bare Naked Ladies, Outkast or Modest Mouse but the best of the 80's will stand the test of time. The Cure for catchy pop with a wonderful mix of feeling and texture and songcraft.

wrong. just look at the strokes
Scout2k8(June 29, 2009 at 12:17 pm)
if a band is boring by sticking to their roots and their style it's not a good band.
Supaduck0(June 29, 2009 at 10:54 am)
if for some reason you like a band doing the same thing over again, stagnating and being boring, then no its not something to be proud of
Scout2k8(June 29, 2009 at 5:49 am)
dont know if it's something to be proud of

can any other band in the world honestly say they were ever as diverse as the cure? poppy catchy songs like this, computer sound using songs like close to me, and 8 minute epic sad masterpieces like "disintegration". most other bands stick to one sound throughout the career, the cure had a new one every 5 years.
