Yundi Li - 14th International Chopin Competition (2000)
This is an 18 year old Yundi Li's performance at the 14th International Chopin Competition in 2000.Uncut, plays straight through two days worth of amazing performances.====================2:06 - Scherzo No. 2 Op. 31, in B-flat minor11:56 - Andante Spianato preceding the..16:28 - Grande Polonaise Brillante in E-flat major, Op. 2225:17 - (applause)Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op. 1128:47 - I: Allegro maestoso49:15 - II: Romance, Larghetto59:07 - III: Rondo, Vivace1:08:41 (closing applause)====================I'm not sure which round this was, or if it was just him after he had already won, but either way these performances are flawless and amazing. Yundi Li is in my top 5 pianists of all time.
I like to sit further away because it gives my arms more flexibility to move around the piano. Sitting too close can make you arms tense and unrelaxed.

He's brilliant - he's got a real pulse and real spontaneity. Just came from a Rafal Blechacz video - was afraid to post my criticism of him as totally boring and over-rehearsed for fear of being flamed....What a contrast!

I believe Yundi still got space to improve himself.Owing his extraordinary talent , he can do better , better , and better in his future time.May be Yundi not the best pianist in the world , but i sure he is the real master of the piano! Work harder to show your best , master!!

My goodness. He's only 18. That's amazing. Plays better than so many older well-known pianists!

the haters can say all that silly stuff about him being robotic or whatever, but this will (or already is) go down as a legendary performance that every kid that enters piano competitions will strive to beat

So much more mature and musical than Lang Lang. The thing I love about yundi is the way he gradually becomes more and more involved in the music. This is also shown in his La campanella rendition whereby near the end he makes a few mistakes but I love that because it shows he's human. Good job Li.
