The last running train in Cambodia, going each weekend from Phnom Penh to Battambang. It runs at under 20km an hour, can be easily out-run and remains one of the few places where you can ride the roof. Just watch out for the power lines.
Reports vary regarding as to whether the train is still running. I'm heading for Phnom Penh in a couple of weeks and one option is to head up the train line if it's still running. Guess I'll find out when I get there! It's videos like this that make me *ache* to be back in Asia again! Can't wait to fly out next week :)

Tell me about it! It seems like this country relies solely on air transportation (look at the airline industry) and pays no heed to other modes of transport. However, I heard that California is getting a high-speed train route (similar to the bullet train) btwn. SF and LA. It's a shame that the States is behind many other countries in rail transit.

I really want to visit Cambodia one day as this country has so many interesting things to experience as a tourist (i.e rural country life, landscapes, etc). This video certaily makes it look more fun and exciting. BTW, is it really true that the train travels at 20 km/hr thru-out the entire trip?
