i n fact your comments were the typical liberal anti religious remarks which I've heard so often. Everyone knows Ann Murray sung mostly secular music, but some songs had a religious twist, "You needed me", "Your love keeps lifting me higher". No one was trying to make the point that she was foremost a gospel singer, but soon as it's mentioned that she sung some gospel music it has to be extingused by the political correct anti religious crowd.

I'm sure she's sung "gospel" music, but it wasn't her main musical focus. Her hits were mostly secular. In fact I can't think of one song that made it into the top 50 that was typically "gospel."Cool it with the assumptions there by the way. Your comments border on insulting. Don't assume to know what or how I feel when you don't even know me. It wouldn't matter to me if she was or wasn't Christian, or any other religion for that matter. It's whether the music appeals or not, that's all.

Actually I heard she spoke at women church conferences.

And for the record, she didn't sing "gospel" music.that's not true, there are youtube videos with her singing gospel. She sold an album on tv just gospel. You act like it would make her a non person if she was a christian. Has Canada become so secular facist ?

Where have you been? She IS up there with the greats! Considering where you're from, I guess you wouldn't know. But she is a superstar of iconic dimension in Canada. Success doesn't some much better than a music career spanning 40 years and counting. And for the record, she didn't sing "gospel" music.

I remember this song making me sad when I was a young boy (8) when it was released in 1970. I hadn't thought of this song in years,&it still chokes me up. A nice song though, sung beautifully. Thanks for the post.

Neither one. It's a comforting thoughtto know that 'the one you love forever is untrue'.And the things you want most in life's the thing that you can't win.
