I agree. Mr. Sullivan is very astute. The most wonderful improvement are the fleshed out characters of Marilla and Matthew which are cartboard characters in the book, intended--by Montgomery's admission--to highlight Anne's qualities by contrast.I also like that he lovingly points out where Anne goes wrong. In his commentary he reveals that in his understanding Anne uses her imagination to control her reality, and I agree. Eventually she learns to deal with it instead of escaping from it.

Just read Anne of Green Gables, still love the movie the most, but it was a good story to read...funny how books get translated into movies-thought Sullivan did a great job, didn't take away from L.M. Montgomery's tale, but actually improved upon it. My favorite story ever!
