http://... we're addicted to oil, our twelve-step program should begin with admitting that we have a problem. As the price of oil creeps higher, finding new energy sources is more important than ever. But the search for alternatives, combined with environmental disruptions, is putting new pressures on other essentials like food. There are some things that are going well in the world. Right now, the economy is not one of them.Animation&Design by Chris WellerDirected by Max JosephMusic: "Genesis" by Justicehttp://...
U.S. Electrical Power Industry Net Generation for 2007 (EIA),Coal - 48.5%Natural Gas - 21.6%Nuclear - 19.4%Hydroelectric - 5.8%Other Renewables - 5.8%Petroleum (Oil) - 1.6%Other - 0.6%Included in the "Other Renewables" are geothermal, wind, and solar, who TOGETHER provide LESS than 1 PERCENT of total electric energy produced yearly in the U.S. That friends is the harsh reality that you will not hear from the regular media.

mikezephyr, what is your source for this statement because I believe your statement is not factual?"50% of the oil presently consumed in the USA is done so by the US Military."
mikezephyr(March 9, 2009 at 12:07 am)
50% of the oil presently consumed in the USA is done so by the US Military.the US government outspends the next 15countries in terms of military expenditure.10% of the US population owns nearly 80% of the wealth and the average compensation of a CEO in 1980 was about 40 times that of the average worker in his company. Today it is more than 500 times.

have these people never heard of cellulosic ethanol?
camdaddy09(March 3, 2009 at 6:56 pm)
yes im in complete support of your statement
SaviorOfLogic(March 3, 2009 at 6:47 pm)
Are you in support or denial of my statement? Sorry, but the '1000s' could be taken either way.

we wouldnt be using STRICTLY solar power, im saying renewable resources in general, wind, tidal, geothermal, its not like there is only one form of sustainable energy, the reality is we lived on a closed system, so if we keep taking, soon there will be nothing left, eventually everything we use will have to be renewable, you would never put all your trust in one energy supply,if a system is failing, it is suicide to stick with it until its too late
freshyrocks(March 2, 2009 at 5:28 am)
You comment made it seem lie we could build a solar farm in a year and everything would workout just fine. The reality is that in a society which runs 24 hours a day we can't just stop work for 12 hours. We lose half our production abilities. All in all at this point in time solar just won't work. Maybe in the next decade.
camdaddy09(March 1, 2009 at 9:26 pm)
you say something that people dont seem to understand, its like theres a stigma that surrounds fusion energy, to everyone reading fusion power can supply the world with however much energy it needs for 1000s yes THOUSANDS of years. thank you savior of logic but its almost as if the world doesnt want it.
NowSmileForMe(March 1, 2009 at 8:26 pm)
and one more thing, you said at night=no power, in the next 60 years we will be out of fossil fuels, so if we stick with those systems, when we run out of fuelsall the time=no power
NowSmileForMe(March 1, 2009 at 8:24 pm)
sounds like someone has NO clue what they are talking about, watch "who killed the electric car"electric car's can run, and do run properly, what your spouting here is what the oil companies created, and its false, when cars were first made, there were two types, electric, and fossle fuel burning, they were both equally efficient, the only reason you believe they do not run properly is because you fall for the gas companies lies about electric cars
freshyrocks(March 1, 2009 at 5:38 pm)
a few problems...How to get the power to the people...And most citys don't shutdown at night...Night = no power. And don't go on about batteries. If we cannot run an electric car properly a city has no chance.
