Donnie was surpose to die but he didnt so then the parel world and our world corlided creating a rif in time he had 28 days to close it. he went into the furture 28 days and worked backwords to day 1 and frank was his guide telling him to do everything at the right time or the world will end and when he had completed all his tasks within the right time it will then send him back in time to the night he was surpose to die, so then he died and the world didnt end.

the whole reason i watched this movie was because of this video. i smiled when i heard this song in the end. i just thought someone had made a video of the 2 together. i didnt actually expect the song to be in the movie.

His "insanity" gives him hallucinations that are showing him what is to happen if he tries to change his course in life or his destiny. In the end he is still unsure as to why it must happen and why things can't be changed but he just learns to smile and live with it.

Donnie Darko is about religion and science sort of mixing together. Donnie Darko challenges religion with the laws of science. Its not that he doesnt believe in god, its more so that he questions his existence. His logic is what "drives him insane". He doesn't understand why things are the way they are and it just doesn't make sense to him why they can't be changed or why things can't be different.

party, and enter Frank, his sister's girlfriend. Frank accidently killed Gretchen, so Donnie's upset, and he kills Frank. His mom and little sister are on a plane, and the plane goes through a worm hole, when the engine comes off. Donnie goes to his room, and is smooshed by the engine, because Frank isn't there to save him.Sorry, that was really confusing and stuff. It's 6 in the morning here, and I'm not really thinking straight, but I hope I made this easier. I just realized I'm on my bro's

It's about how Donnie was supposed to die in the beginning (the engine). It's how things are when Donnie was originally supposed to be alive, and it's about worm holes and the such. Donnie was supposed to die in the plane incident in the beginning of the movie, but he didn't so that screwed up time, and created a riff in the fabric of time. Donnie meets Gretchen, and all these things happen, and he learns when his /own/ world is to end. Finally, he realizes all of this at his sister's halloween

I didn't understand it when I watched it (at 14 years old), but I suppose I didn't really devote much time and effort to deciphering the complex plotline... Care to explain it to me?

Have`nt heard this song in a while! Great song, incredible movie. Your explanation is probably the best 1 i`ve heard for what this film is actually about. I`ve tried to fathom it a few times and thought i could explain it to a friend but the words came out all wrong! I had some sort of idea of what was going on but that seems to have put it right in my head now.

It's a great movie, and I guess it could be for kids, but they'd have to be like.. genius children, because it's super complicated. The movie just...Wow, I saw it, and was like "Omg, greatest movie evar." because it's complicated, and it makes you think a lot. About life, time, and weird stuff... It's worth the watch, trust me. :)
