The landing gear looks way too spindley for my tastes. I'd never fly on it. Props to the pilot for at least preventing a worse disaster.

The q400 is a excellent aircraft. Nearly as fast as jets but with 30% lower fuel consumption. It also has good STOL. I know a lot of the older models had a lot of landing gear problems by the newer models dont.

I flew from Copenhagen to Aarhus in one of these in November 2008... awful aircraft with a poor safety record - landing gear collapses (like this) and wing-icing issues have happened more than once. Danish Air Transport fly these winged sheds in SAS livery on SAS codeshare flight numbers - so you think you'll be on a respectable aircraft until you walk onto the thing...
