http://... Skid Row's hustlers, transients, and cops are a lesser known population of children, social servants and religious workers whose daily lives play out on LA's most dangerous city blocks. Watch "On Skid Row," debuting Feb. 18, to get behind the headlines and into the streets of Los Angeles' Skid Row.Part 2: Teenaged Skid Row filmmaker Franklin Arburtha carries the mantle of disenfranchised youth on skid row.
franklin's belief is there is no hope for those people. well, with an attitude like that, he's right. i've been homeless. that was my motivation to get a job: to get off the streets. it can be done. if these people aren't motivated by this to stop doing drugs, get a job and move on, nothing will motivate them. so, i guess franklin is right.

franklin is strong, he is a MAN! He's smart. if i was him i would have picked up the pipe.....but franklin didnt. i hope his skills and talent take him to directing hollywood films. he'd make all the money in the world and never suffer a day in his life again. Franklin i'll pray for you my brother. much love, much respect.

i know franklin and his family. knew them for over a year, and its good he wants to do better. i am in college now! i decided that there is something better out there, out of the impovished world. in a situation like that when it comes to kids usually two things occur , they either stay or they do better. sometimes even becomming humanitarians

ps...anything you post on myspace/facebook-i'd recomend it be concrete and evident not just seemingly sensible but things that we can all see and KNOW need change.
slightdrift(April 11, 2009 at 4:41 pm)
everyone should post this on there myspace pages and facebook pages...along w/others like this..I reccomend searching on here for:"L-curve" (contrasting that info w/this)"John Q clip 1987""Former LA Police Officer Mike Ruppert Confronts John Deutch""Steven Seagal's Ending Speech from "On Deadly Ground"That is if you live in the U.S. we need REAL change-not just nice talk about it from diversion tactic empty speaches.

it all depends on the perspective one has on life. I am sorry if you are offended, but Hispanics (immigrants) are as equally discriminated against, but you see them in downtown LA cleaning toilets and streets for less than minimum wage, and in the sub-urbs cleaning houses and doing intense yard work. ALWAYS WORKING. Unfortunately you see blacks and whites (homeless), AS A GENERAL RULE, not caring to improve their condition, but "lamenting" themselves while receiving welfare or other federal aid

What's your point? We need to be aware of all poverty in the world...here and in other countries. What's there to argue about?

you would see more in China because their population is 1.3 billion people in America its only 302 million. I don't know where you got 3rd world tied into a country being poor. First World: the United States and its allies. Second World: the Soviet Union and its allies. Third World: Non-aligned and neutral countries. Thats all those labels mean has nothing to do with being poor or not.
