Sydney 2000 OC - Cathy Freeman Lights The Olympic Cauldron
The biggest moment of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games opening ceremony. An innovative way of lighting the Olympic Flame to the cauldron by Atlanta 1996 Olympic silver medalist in the women's 400m event at the time: Cathy Freeman. She went on to win the Olympic gold medal in these Games in the same women's 400m event.Note: Very sorry for the poor quality of the picture near the end of this clip. The VCR tape I had this recorded on was showing its age and I was concerned that I was going to lose this entire show because of that.I know that there is other YouTube uploads of this scene. You may want to look them up for better quality than this clip.At the end of this clip, fireworks go off at one of Stadium Australia, as the cauldron itself was assisted mechanically, to officially conclude the opening ceremony of these Games.
Respetable, pero a mi gusto la mejor de todas fue la de Barcelona de 1992, la de la flecha de fuego disparada al pebetero. Simplemente excelente.

Para mi, fue la forma mas original en la que ha encendido el pebetero olimpico!!!

Hi, I have music form the Olympic games of Mexico 1968: The official fanfare, two poems recorded for the Olympiads, Music from the ceremony of the New Fire waiting the arrival of the Olympic flame at the ruins of Teotihuacan on the evening October 11 1968, and few clips from the opening ceremony. I would like exchange by videos or music of others opening and closing ceremonies especially 68, 72, 76, 80, 92, 98, greetings!

Note: I'm sure you know this, but the video up a the IOC's website is not exactly how the music was to be synchronized with the cauldron, but it does give you an idea - the choir esque piece of music, "Te Deum" I think" was suppose to play through the cauldron's ascend to the top of the stadium. Then the second piece of music would play through the fireworks. Then the ceremonies closing announcement's wishing all athletes good luck would play.
