Forgot to address the above statement to henryfarrell1 when first posted. Sorry But I stand by what I said. It was NOT Englands war...it was Hitler's War against England...and everyone else. The millions of casualties on all sides can be laid directly at Hitler's door to hell. He brought out the best and the worst in humankind. Evil personified. But this song is so beautiful and sad...it makes me think of all those brave souls who died. I for one will honor their memories, always.

You're not naive enough to think Hitler would have stopped with England, are you? Who do you think would be the next bite? Ask Poland. Ask France. Ask every little European country gobbled up by Hitler's war machine. For some reason I don't think he would have stopped, once he bombed England to smithereens. I'm just saying...Ireland's options were limited. IMHO Peace

As an Irish man, we lost a lot of peoples in world war one for a war that had little to do with us, thousand were lost. Then who could bleam Dev (Develara) for us not joining Englands war in world war 2 when so many were lost in a fuilt cause and be critised by Churchills victory speech of ww2
