I'm sorry to see what some people have got to say about this. But everyone living thing have a right. No human being should suffer like that. It's not fair. And these CLEBS are at least doing something. We all should do something. If you don't care about Burma's people and what is happening to them, then I'm sorry to say this but thats REALLY cold hearted.

Illegal military regime? for a long time the US held the position that Mainland China had been overrun by communist bandits and that it was still rightfully governed from Taipei. that view became more ludicrous as the communists held power for a long time. and, when it would benefit the US the most, in the sino-soviet split the US said the communists were the legitimate rulers of Mainland China. This worked and china turned its back on their comrades in russia and sided with America.

This whole campaign is admirable, and I wish them success, but we're already past a month and about 950,000 votes under the projected and hoped for million. I don't even know what they're expecting to happen. Yes, they raised awareness, but to what end? How do you remove someone from power who controls the allegiance of a whole army? Do we send the bluehats in? We can't; China is a permanent member with veto power. That means US soldiers go in or, as before, a proxy war. Can you move a mountain?

Don't get me wrong, any human rights violation is a serious one. But comparing on a scale of importance based on first the threat to our lives and our way of life, burma is close to the bottom. The only advantage would be whatever mineral and resource rights we can get from the government we install. How do you think China is going to feel when we steal those? Yes, we'll feel good about saving helpless jungle villagers, but we wont feel so good when China tries to punish us. It's sad, but life.

Unfortunately, the middle east and possibly africa is going to take up our time and most importantly, energy and resources. True, it's a terrible situation, but it is more advantageous for us to concentrate on the mideast. If you want to keep living the lifestyle you have now, the one that's full of driving wherever you want and having enough plastic...not to mention the absence of fallout. A dictator who has access to nuclear weapons is a little more important than one who terrorizes villagers
